Call Center WorkCall center work is challenging and in a lot of cases marginally paid. However, call center word does provide a starting point for young professionals trying to get a foot in the door, or for older workers looking for less responsibility. In the call center there are various levels of work. Starting with an entry level representative and going all the way up to Vice President of Customer Care. An entire cadre supports the call center operation at several levels building on each other. As far as experience and general requirements, most companies ask that prospective employees have some level of experience in a high volume call center environment. As mentioned before call center work is not for everyone and organizations want people who have worked in the trenches. While some companies may agree to hire people with some experience, others may require at least two years in a similar function. Especially in technical call centers or technical support groups where working knowledge of help desk ticketing and other support systems such as Oracle, Outlook, Excel, Remedy, or Siebel is needed, experience plays a key role. of course, having hands on knowledge is only part of the equation. organizations also ask that their employees have excellent customer service and strong telephone communication skills. As far as education, a high school diploma, or equivalent is sufficient in most companies. Yet, some employers prefer to hire individuals with an undergraduate degree.
