Phone Sales Jobs

Continuation

The sales pitch should be equally well rehearsed, concise, clear, and full of value creating propositions. Also, the telemarketer must be prepared to address any objections, and there may be many, raised by the customer.

Common objections are the following:

  • "I'm not interested"

  • "I already have (your product), and I'm happy with it just the way it is"

  • " I don't have time right now"

  • "I don't like to buy things over the phone"

  • "How do I know you really are from (your company)"

  • "I need to talk to my husband/wife"

Some of the objections are created by fear of the unknown. With so many widely publicized phone scams and the increase in cases of ID theft, it is no wonder that people don't want to deal with unknown callers. Other objections are the result of poor experiences with other telemarketers, lack of information, or misunderstanding.

Phone marketers should approach objections with poise, logic and eloquence. Under no circumstances should the sales agent engage into an argument with the prospective customer. Even if the argument in "won", the customer will be permanently lost.
